Braid and Bun Method: For Medium/Thick Hair
Learn the step-by-step Braid and Bun Method to create a secure and perfect bun for medium to thick hair.
Follow these easy, detailed instructions to achieve a flawless look.
- High Ponytail: Start by pulling your hair into a high ponytail centered on top of your head, and secure it with three hair elastics. (Pro tip: While it is important for the elastics to be tightly wrapped around the ponytail, be sure to slightly loosen the ponytail before moving on to the next steps. This will ensure that your athlete is comfortable all day and their ponytail is not too tight.)
- Braid the Ponytail: Braid the ponytail tightly to ensure it stays intact throughout the day.
- Wrap into a Bun: Wrap the braided ponytail into a bun. Secure the bun with one or two hair elastics.
- Tighten the Drawstring: Pull the drawstring at the back of the posh as tight as possible. Wrap the drawstring around the base and secure with a bobby pin.
- Secure the Perfect Posh: Finish by securing the perfect posh using your favorite method. For the best hold, we recommend using spiral bobby pins or the sew-in method.
Donut Method: For Thin Hair.
Creating the perfect bun using the Donut Method is simple and ideal for those with thin hair. Follow these easy steps for a secure and perfect bun.
- High Ponytail: Start by pulling your hair into a high ponytail centered on the top of your head, and secure it with three hair elastics. (Pro tip: While it is important for the elastics to be tightly wrapped around the ponytail, be sure to slightly loosen the ponytail before moving on to the next steps. This will ensure that your athlete is comfortable all day and their ponytail is not too tight.)
- Pull Through the Donut: Pull the ponytail through a hair donut, positioning it at the base of the ponytail.
- Cover the Donut: Spread your hair out evenly to cover the donut completely. Then, loop a hair elastic over the top of the donut to secure the hair in place.
- Wrap Remaining Hair: Take the remaining hair that sticks out from the donut and wrap it around the base. Secure it with bobby pins to keep it tidy and in place.
- Tighten the Drawstring: Pull the drawstring at the back of the posh as tight as possible. Wrap the drawstring around the base and secure with a bobby pin.
- Secure the Perfect Posh: Finish by securing the perfect posh using your preferred method. We recommend using spiral bobby pins or the sew-in method for the best hold.
When securing your bun, use two rubber bands and crisscross them over the top to make it extra secure. This will help your bun stay in place all day and create a solid base for securing your Posh.
If your posh becomes wobbly when you wear it here are a few tips.
- Your original ponytail may have become too loose or has loosened over time. Secure with four elastics.
- Your bun isn't tight enough. Braid the bun or twist it extra tight.
- Your bun is too small, so there isnt much for the Posh to grip to. Use a donut bun.
