Even “heat-safe” tinsel can melt over time.
- Repeated heat styling can cause strands to melt or fuse into natural hair.
- Color transfer can happen.
- Some tinsels are not fully color-safe and may bleed onto your Posh, especially during washing or long-term wear.
- They fray quickly.
- Many tinsels become frazzled, bent, or rough-looking after even the first heat application.

They don’t hold up through a full season.
- Competition schedules require durability, styling, travel, sweat, brushing, and repeated wear — and tinsel simply doesn’t maintain a polished look.
- They can tangle into the hairpiece.
- Tinsel strands can wrap around sewn areas or fibers, making maintenance and brushing more difficult.
- They may shorten the lifespan of your Posh
- Heat damage, friction, and color transfer can impact the overall appearance and longevity of the ponytail.
Because we always want your Posh looking its BEST, we also ask that all tinsel be removed prior to a Posh Refresh appointment.
